I’ve received many emails over the last few days asking me to report my first-hand experience of being in Bangkok at the moment. Amazingly, I feel like people on the outside know more about what’s going on than I do!
My day-to-day life has not been affected. Work is normal, as is my social life. However, on Friday night, I stayed at school until 8pm to watch a student concert, and my friend and I had a hell of a time trying to get home. Our school is nearer to the airport, and it seemed like there was a mass exodus into Bangkok from that direction. The highway was clogged. We had to hop out of the taxi and walk all the way to Sukhumvit. We then took motorcycles home. This trip usually takes 30 mins, but on Friday night it took over an hour; I’m sure it took even longer for those who chose to sit and wait in the traffic.
As we were walking, we noticed a couple of guys wearing yellow handkerchiefs around their necks, so they must have been PAD. In any case, the airports are still closed, which is causing major problems for the entire country, as you can imagine. We just heard that the protesters who have been camped out at the government headquarters are now going to make their way to join the other protesters at the airport, so who knows when or how this will end.
On the home-front, my friend Nicole hosted an amazing Thanksgiving at her house. We had a real turkey with all the fixins. I supplied copious amounts of wine and pumpkin pie. Over the weekend I went to another Thanksgiving celebration where we watched the Dallas-Seattle game (and I’m going to a friend’s to watch the Broncos game after work). I missed being with family, but really, it was great. I hope you all had an equally wonderful holiday despite the terrible things that have been happening around the world. There’s much to be thankful for! By the way, I’m going back to Colorado for Christmas! Yay!

We missed you too! Brian’s pototoes could not compare to yours. I was just talking to Quien at Scenic Travels and she said “Many people stuck in Bangkok airport.” I wish I had that problem. Any way, take care.
